Useful Facts Without Opinions: Interest Rates
It must be tough working at Australia’s Reserve Bank these days. They’re flat out doing all sorts of economic research yet the nation judges them for that one decision their board make each month on interest rates. And this week they again did nothing. Exactly what they’ve been doing every month since August 2016 (the last cut), announcing they would keep official rates on hold. The banks have nonetheless increased some of their rates recently and here’s a colourful graph of the past 25 years of Australian home loans.
