Prospering Milton on the move with new developments!
What a hotspot Milton is turning out to be. Competing with South Brisbane’s range of new developments along with new towering Skytower in Brisbane City.
Known more for housing Suncorp Stadium, the Fourex (XXXX) Brewery and sensational eateries along Park Road, Milton has undergone somewhat of a transition in recent years. As a real estate agent in Milton, watching the suburb flourish with a range of new developments totalling 950+ apartments, including The Milton on Railway Terrace and the yet to be constructed Icon Milton on Walsh Street, is simply mesmerising as Brisbane’s influx of new developments takes off.
It is not surprising the location of the new projects, all within a stone’s throw of Coronation Drive and Park Road. Check out the map below:
Here’s a very quick summary:
The Milton – 298 apartments due to be completed in mid-July this year, developed by Aveo
Westmark – 277 apartments in early construction due to be completed in early 2016, developed by Walker Corporation.
Icon Milton – 251 apartments with construction due to begin in July this year along Walsh Street, developed by GH Properties.
Savoir Faire – 65 apartments in early construction on Manning Street that is due to complete in late 2016, developed by Kozmic Developments.
Duo – A boutique complex of only 25 apartments in the early stages of construction towards the bottom of Gordon Street south of the railway.
Siena – 49 apartments on the corner of McDougall and Walsh Street that were completed in mid-2014, designed by Silverstone Developments.
The pocket between the railway line and Coronation Drive has been a hub for new developments, with older houses being removed for the glitz and glam of inner-city life. It began with the ten-storey ‘Edge’ apartments on Manning Street, housing 64 apartments and 10 townhouses, which allowed for future projects to begin to materialise in a competitive environment for developers. Indeed ‘Edge’ and ‘Elysees’ on Walsh Street have set the tone for a growing environment for mid-high level apartment complexes.
For many who live in the Paddington / Ashgrove / Bardon / Red Hill areas and commute to the city, the likes of The Milton (30 storey), Icon (20 storey) and Westmark (20 storey) will now sit upon your sky line. It will provide a huge boom for businesses along bustling Park Road, not to mention a large increase in general growth, with Milton already one of Brisbane’s fastest growing suburbs.
Overall these 6 buildings are transforming our neighbourhood from one that’s still fairly heavily commercial and concrete, hopefully into something more residential and broadly appealing. A suburb that is exceptionally well serviced by bus, ferry and rail networks, on the fringes of the CBD and less than 2km to the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, deserves some diversity and life and we’re looking forward to seeing these projects completed. Taking into account the number of our clients who call into the office looking for local apartments to rent or purchase, the future of these buildings looks prosperous.
