several apartments at Dornoch Towers have never changed hands
If you live in Highgate Hill or West End you’ve probably traveled along Dornoch Terrace once or twice. That means there’s at least 13 owners who moved in from day one and aren’t planning on moving out anytime soon! The stats show that they’ve seen an average growth rate of 11.0%pa with an average sale price over the years of $413,000. Situated on a high point these apartments enjoy clear views over the neighbourhood to the city lights.

Whilst it’s not brand spanking new anymore, Richard Kirk Architects continue to receive mentions for their award winning design in Highgate Hill. This home’s located on a heavily sloping block (mountain goat country) most of us wouldn’t dream of building on – but they’ve managed to build 3 levels with style. Just off Dornoch Terrace, where you can see more of their work, it’s on one of Brisbane’s steepest streets. Interestingly, their external design intentionally used timbers which will grey so that the colour scheme will come of age over time.

“Be as true to each other as this dial is to the sun” is the inspirational thought you’ll find on the sundial on top of Highgate Hill’s park on Dornoch Terrace. The grassy hill isn’t sign-posted with a park name and interestingly it’s made up of a couple of different lot numbers as if it were ready to subdivide. Whilst I’m sure the sundial would work it is located under the rotunda – a nice shady spot to catch the view!

165 Dornoch Terrace
Off with the Stucco of the old “Rodmaun” home and in with the crane! Whilst this Highgate Hill icon is being given a new lease of life it’s actually taking a step back in time as it will look more like the original home once the work is done. BCC website shows they’re building 4 new homes at the back.

The community’s appeal to return bus ‘192′ to its original route has been lost. The City South News reports Council found other options to be unsafe or too slow to maintain a 20 minute frequency. If you live in Paradise, James or Dudley Street you’ll have to do some extra stretches before leaving home as you make your way up to Dornoch Terrace.
