Darragh O’Malley was driving his lorry through Dublin when he saw a bridge with a sign saying 3 metre max headroom. He slowed down wondering if he could drive under it or not. “A shure I’ll give it a go,” he thought only to find that his lorry got stuck underneath it.
Darragh sat back in his seat, poured out a cup of tea and lit a cigarette. A policeman arrived a short time later and knocked on the cab door. “What do you think you are doing?” demanded the policeman in a sharp tone.
“Sure I’m having me tea break,” replied Darragh. “And what do you work at?” enquired the policeman. “Agh shure, I deliver bridges,” smiled Darragh.

For a fresh and organic selection of fruits and veg as well as meat and fish you can’t go past the West End Community Markets every Saturday at Davies Park. There’s a wide selection but you’ll have to get up early to get the best of the bunch because it kicks off from 6am. It’s probably not the healthiest breakfast choice, but I can’t go past the cheesy bread sticks to go with my morning coffee – at only $1 each they’re delicious!

165 Dornoch Terrace
Off with the Stucco of the old “Rodmaun” home and in with the crane! Whilst this Highgate Hill icon is being given a new lease of life it’s actually taking a step back in time as it will look more like the original home once the work is done. BCC website shows they’re building 4 new homes at the back.

The community’s appeal to return bus ‘192′ to its original route has been lost. The City South News reports Council found other options to be unsafe or too slow to maintain a 20 minute frequency. If you live in Paradise, James or Dudley Street you’ll have to do some extra stretches before leaving home as you make your way up to Dornoch Terrace.

is this really art?!
A sculpture at the front of GOMA has caused quite a bit of stir, with some holiday makers confusing it for a real Motel sign and actually pulling in off Grey Street in the hope of finding a bed for the night. Whilst we applaud the effort and the finished product – we wonder how many more tourists will be confused (and inconvenienced!) by the sign’s inappropriate position.

More of an instruction than a sign of protest. With West End undergoing change more rapidly than ever before this sign on Montague Rd is just one of the traffic calming signals installed in the area to make life for the current residents a bit easier. Trucks making deliveries to any of the new developments along the river have to travel Montague Rd at some point.

Tragedy strikes Highgate Hill when a 22 year old woman fell from a 4th floor apartment balcony. The incident happened only days after Christmas, a time most people share with family and friends. A reminder to us all to check on the safety of balcony rails and supports and to be mindful of the possibility of children tumbling off chairs and other deck furniture.
