Fergus Smith BSc, GAICD, MA, MBA - appointed General Manager of the Residential Tenancies Authority in 2006 Fergus has brought strong leadership skills to the role and an extensive knowledge of the housing sector. From 2002 to 2006, he was the RTA's Manager of Corporate and Investigation Services. He earlier worked with the Department of Housing and Queensland Treasury Corporation.
The new Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act takes effect from July 1st and the RTA has spent more than 2 years preparing. Fergus will give an overview of the changes, how they impact on landlords and share why some issues needed to be addressed with new legislation.
