There’s an indisputable connection between employment locations and real estate demand. Clear data shows home owners and tenants want easy access to their workplace. So where are Queensland’s biggest employment centres? At a recent REIQ conference, demographer Bernard Salt produced the following top 10 list (as at the 2016 census).
- Brisbane City: 122,400
- Brisbane Airport: 28,000
- South Brisbane: 27,600
- Rocklea – Acacia Ridge: 23,300
- Fortitude Valley: 22,000
- Cairns City: 22,000
- Newstead – Bowen Hills: 20,200
- Ormeau – Yatala: 18,600
- Toowoomba Central: 18,200
- Kelvin Grove – Herston: 16,700
