Investment owners will be relieved to know that while they fork out for recent interest rate rises and higher property prices, their rental incomes are well and truly on the move. New stats from the Residential Tenancies Authority show Brisbane’s median 2 bed apartment rents have risen 11.1% over the past year. Houses have jumped 8.3%.
The total rental market is still getting bigger – the RTA is now holding bonds for some 176,000 Brisbane households, a 4.2% increase on this time last year. Across the city our medians are still fairly low at $250 for a 2 bed apartment and $260 for a 3 bed house. Closer to the CBD though there’s a significant jump: postcode 4000 has a median 2 bed apartment rent of $435 per week.
